I am waist deep in planning for Avail Art’s next program called The Young Patrons Collective (YPC). Our current program, Summer Art Circle, is in full swing and receiving great reviews from our members and partners. Summer associates at six New York law firms are enjoying private receptions, performances, screenings, tours, visits’ to artists studios and galleries and conversations with leading figures in the art world. Turns out that law students are not the only ones who want on to the “guest list” of the art world! So, we are pleased to announce that YPC will be available to young professionals currently working in law, finance and consulting at participating firms.
I am thrilled that our members are having a good time and learning about the work of talented artists, the important role of nonprofit arts institutions and how to start an art collection. I look forward to surveying our members at the end of the summer and keeping in touch with them in the years to come to assess whether we are inspiring people to make art a permanent part of their lives. Most importantly, by helping busy professionals discover the joy and meaning a connection to art can bring to life, we seek to cultivate a new generation of arts philanthropists.
These pages will contain my personal observations and experiences in the arts as we develop and grow our programs in New York, across the U.S. and abroad. You will hear from guest bloggers from time to time to ensure that all of our categories get sufficient attention. When YPC launches this fall, we will be bringing you highlights and commentary from our members-only events.
